As we know that .np (For example: www.example.com.np) domain is free.. To get the .np domain you need to follow cetain steps ,you need to be resident of Nepal , and must have Nepalese citizenship. Lets start now,

- Step 2: Get the DNS name and ip address
- Step 3: Online registration
- Step 4: Submit application letter and copy of your citizenship
Step 1: Get a web hosting
Before applying for the domain registration you need to have the host provider for your site. Find one that suites your requirement whether in size or bandwidth or type of database or script usage. If you like you can even find free web hosting sites and somesites even list them out and rank them with their features.
Step 2: Get the DNS name and ip address
For registration you need to have the DNS servers name and its ip addresses. DNS server name is provided by the web host provider. For registration purpose it requires primary, secondary and tertiary DNS server. So, get at least 2 DNS servers. To find the ip address you can use the ping command. Go to command prompt in case of windows environment and type in “ping [DNS name]“; without double quotation and your DNS name.
Step 3: Online registration
Go to http://register.mos.com.np and first check whether the domain in your name is free to request or not. Keep in mind the domain name must be same as the name in your citizenship. If the domain is free continue for registration. Fill in your information and the DNS names and ip addresses. And submit. you will get a page nforming you to bring your citizenship copy and an application to the Mercantile office at Durbarmarg. Also you will recieve an email in the contact you gave which will have the details you just filled in.
Step 4: Submit application letter and copy of your citizenship
Write an application letter addressed to ‘Host master’ and copy your citizenship. Then submit them to the MercantileÂ head office at DurbarMarg.
Now within 2/3 days you will get your working .np domain
