Chennai Super Kings The defending champions, and also the winners of the Champions league T20, are still lead by the Indian World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni and if the temperament of their leader is anything to go by then they will be again a tough team to beat in the competition.
Mumbai Indians
Last year’s runners up and a team that impressed everybody with their performance during the competition will again be title contenders.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Lead by opener Gautam Gambhir, the team looks a balanced one when compared with the last three squads that were there in the previous editions. The experience of Jacques Kallis and Brett Lee should help the team, while Ryan ten Doeschate could be another one to watch out for.
Delhi Daredevils
New Delhi, too, has made a lot of changes in the squad but they still have Virender Sehwag and David Warner in the batting department, while the presence of Irfan Pathan should be handy with the ball.
Rajasthan Royals
The team who won the opening edition of the Indian Premier League is lead by the spin king Shane Warne. Apart from Warne, who is one of the most important members of the team, the squad also includes swashbuckling batsmen Ross Taylor and all-rounders Shane Watson and Paul Collingwood.
Deccan Chargers
Winners of the second edition, the Chargers in the fourth year are not lead by dynamic wicket-keeper batsmen Adam Gilchrist, who is now in Kings XI Punjab. The team however will depend on wicket-keeper batsmen Kumara Sangakara in the batting, while Dale Steyn will be the one to watch out for with the ball.
Kings XI Punjab
After not being successful in the last two IPL seasons the side will be lead by Adam Gilchrist who was instrumental in winning the title for the Deccan Chargers.
However, the side will miss the local lad and man of the tournament in the World Cup –Yuvraj Singhwho will play for Sahara Pune Warriors now.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Another team that has been consistent in performance in the previous two editions should continue its good run this time too.
Lead by New Zealand‘s Daniel Vettori the team has an experienced captain. However, the most important addition to the squad is pacer Zaheer Khan who played a key role in winning the World Cup and was also the joint highest wicket taker in tournament.
Sahara Pune Warriors
An unknown entity and playing their first IPL, the team, however, has the man of the tournament during the World Cup. Yuvraj Singh’s form with the bat and ball is the biggest positive. The squad also includes Graeme Smith and Kiwi batsman Jesses Ryder.
