The London 2012 closing ceremony Google doodle shows various “virtual athletes” that had featured during the doodles the preceding 16 days. So we have the female archer, the synchronised swimming team, the shot-put athlete with the armpit hair, the javelin thrower with the long nose, and everyone else making an appearance.
The 150-minute closing ceremony will include video highlight reels of the July 27-August 12 Games, and in between the music will be the men’s marathon medal ceremony, athletes’ parade, speeches and a presentation by the next hosts Rio de Janeiro.
Over 10,500 athletes from 204 countries participated in 302 events in 26 sports.
Google had posted a doodle for every day of the Games, some of them playable. The doodles had included the Opening Ceremonies, archery, diving, fencing, rings, field hockey, table tennis, shot put, pole vault, synchronized swimming, and javelin. But some doodles allowed visitors to play and score, such as basketball, slalom canoe, and soccer.
