Tuesday night’s lottery draw will be for the third-largest MEGA Millions jackpot in the history of the multi-state game of chance.
Nobody matched all six numbers in Friday night’s draw so the lottery jackpot will grow to an estimated $363 million.
The jackpot is the largest since January 2011 when the total at stake reached $380 million. The all-time jackpot was $390 million in March 2007.
The retailer who sells the winning ticket would pocket $1 million.
Mega Millions bills itself as the nation’s biggest jackpot game. It’s played in 42 states, including California, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Drawings are held twice weekly — on Tuesdays and Fridays. Other, non-jackpot prizes are also available based on the number of sales, winners and numbers matched.
