How to Fix Non Responsive and Slow WordPress Dashboard

Recently my wordpress dashboard was experiencing some problems, it got very slow to load and the toggle buttons on the Admin Dashboard froze disabling me to Add Images in the Posts etc.
I posted in the WordPress Support Forum and got the tip on resolving the issue.

Common Errors On WordPress.

  • Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2348617 bytes) in /home4/xxx/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line xxx
  • Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/content/66/7213066/html/wp-includes/pomo/mo.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php’) in /home/content/66/7213066/html/wp-settings.php on line 82

If you are experiencing similar problems then here is the fix.

How To Fix The Dashboard.

First of all What are the causes for slow wordpress. Lets jot them down.

  • WordPress Hoting Server Down.
  • Database Errors.
  • Internet Connectivity.
  • Faulty Plugins.
  • Non Upgraded WordPress.

Now Lets briefly describe the above points.

  1. WordPress Hosting Server Down:

Whats the Problem?

This problem occurs mainly when you host on a Free WebHost as most of the Paid Hosts offer 99.99% Uptime guarantee.The problem that has occurred is that the web-hosts Network is down for maintainence and unable to connect.

Whats the Solution?

Contact your webhost. Incase you are on a free host the chances of your problem being resolved quickly is a bit less.

  1. Database Errors:

    • Login to your cPanel on your host.
    • Then click PHPMyAdmin.
    • In the left pane select your database (eg: domain_wrdp1 etc).
    • Scroll Down, Click Check All.
    • In the drop down menu click Repair Table.
    • After that select Optimize Table.

Whats the Problem?

WordPress comments , posts etc are stored in Databases like MySQL etc. These databases when become corrupt can slow down and prevent access to wordpress and its contents.

Whats the Solution?

  1. Internet Connectivity:

    • Click Start, Run.
    • Type cmd.
    • In the command prompt type “ipconfig/flushdns followed by ipconfig/registerdns”
    • Then try Pinging your Ip adress with this command “ping IP”

Whats the Problem?

This problem is mostly with your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Whats the Solution?

Contact them, If you are able to open certain sites but not some then follow:

  1. Faulty Plugin

    • Login to cPanel.
    • Open File Manager and browse to wp-content>Plugins.
    • Rename the plugins folder to plugin.hold.
    • Try logging in to WordPress again then repeat the renaming trick on all the plugins folder inside the main pluigns folder to find the Faulty Plugin.
    • After this open wp-config file and add the following line to the top of the page under the <?
    • What the code does is to increase your PHP Memory to 64MB from the default 16 or 32, This gives more memory to plugins. Save the file and your WP will be fixed.

Whats the Problem?

You might have installed a plugin which have crashed. This mostly gives an error when trying to access your Wp-Admin. This can be fixed as follows.

Whats the Solution?

If you cant access the WordPress Admin Login.

WordPress from time to time release new updates. These might be crucial Security updates.
