The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million, according to the Mega Millions website. The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40.
The lottery had placed the odds of winning Mega Millions at about 1 in 176 million. The retailer who sells the winning ticket will receive a maximum $1-million bonus.
